Hi, I'm new to flash and just doing some test. I'm trying to get adjusted to flash and anyway I finished a basic pinkie pie walk cycle. Any feedback is helpful. Thanks in advance.

:Boo: NOTE: I didn't draw the pinkie pie puppet, I got it from the Double Rainboom kit.

The legs just don't seem to move far enough to actually make any distance if she was walking that.

Very limp and strange looking. I think you should look to side-view angles from the show as reference to how the legs should move. Start a reference point. I'll pick the hind leg to move forward "first" since it's kinda easier (I think) to visualize from there. Then the front leg of the same side after. More specifically, as the back leg goes down, the front leg goes up. As the front leg begins to move down, the hind leg on the other side begins to move up. And cycle. I'd look on YT there are demos of horse/pony walk cycles for reference. The difficulty here is the fluidity of motion. Good luck.

References really aid any kind of visual art whether static or kinetic.

Good idea I didn't reference much when I was making it :p so that will probably help. Thanks btw.

Thanks this will be a very useful reference. I'm assuming this is only half the frames and the rest will be inbetweens. Because I heard a full walk cycle adds up to a total of 24 frames.

Alright here's attempt number 2, I think it turned out a lot better than my first one. Not show quality or anything but a lot better than my last, I think anyway. I also put it in HD so you can see it better:

UPDATE: Added bouncing, still needs a couple fixes but I think this is the best one yet.

That third one looks a lot better since the first. It looks pretty good. ^_^ Personally though I do feel like the legs need to bend more. also I belive that the hair bounces too often and probably should be timed with on of the front legs raising and falling. Still you may want to check other pony walk cycle videos before you take that advice from me. Also, this isn't directly helpful given it's a front view, and a bit jumpier then you want, but this video is quite interesting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vhGGy3i6aA It breaks down the technical details of the march in smile smile smile. Also this is a pretty good Rarity walk cycle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDcBFWgxSAE best of luck!! Also this is some Pinkie motion that's likely faster than the pace you were going for, but I thought it was adorable: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-x7MZopYgOA and finally for a very straitforward walk at a fairly standard pace here is a good example of a couple steps of Twilight Sparkle's walk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viN-Z1YL5To

Thanks, that will be quite helpful.

    UPDATED:
Added more bending in legs, slightly decreased bouncing (Haven't messed too much with it yet), also fixed some line errors.

The strides are too stiff and short. Her legs need to extend out more, otherwise, she kinda looks like she's walking with a stick up her bum.

Thanks for comment, now that you mention it, I see it is quite short and stiff.

    UPDATED:
Added more stretch to legs, looks better but might could use some more stretch.

The second to last one looked a lot better than the one before it to me ^_^ I'm not sure how I feel about the last one. The way it kind of flicks outwards look slightly odd to me. When it stretches it seems to go a bit past being a strait line and I think that's what looks a little odd to me.

    Oh yeah and update:

I made a small animation test (Not with the walk cycle):

I noticed a lot of errors in this test and a lot of things I could do to improve it, but that would involve re-animating the whole thing, so I'm just gonna post it. No need to comment on this one, I know it sucks XP, I just thought I would post it for future reference, lol:
