Ok, I know there isn't a lot of evidence for this, but is it possible that Skittles Pony has a tiny crush on Pie Pony (all da foods)? Think about a Canterlot Wedding. In the song 'LOVE is in Bloom' we see a picture of Soarin and Rainbow sort of being funny together. Looking at the picture, it looks like Soarin is laughing at something Dash said or did. In 'The Best Night Ever' Rainbow looks kinda....shy almost when she saves Soarin's pie. The two seem to get a little bit of screen time together, I think out of all the Wonderbolts, he's the one Rainbow interacts with most. Do you think the writers are going somewhere with this? I would certainly like to see it happen, I can see it working, unlike Appledash. It would also help to clear up the whole 'Is RD Gay?' Thing, because she's really not. I'd like to hear what you think
I don't think the Mane Six will ever have serious canon love interests. It's a kid's show, after all. As for Rainbow Dash being gay, who knows? It's never been brought up either way.
Well... All I can say is that out of all of the "fanon" ships, this one is probably one of the few ones I'd be okay with becoming "canon." However Ridley is right. It's very doubtful the Mane 6 will be given relationships since it's a kids show and all.
I don't think there's any kind of intentional romantic implication. Soarin laughing at something Dash said or did doesn't really mean anything more than that they're both fun-loving poines, which fits their characters, and Dash looking shy when catching his pie... well the Wonderbolts are her heroes; it's understandable she might be a little shy around them.
I don't think it is canon, even though I do ship those two together. I really don't expect it to actually happen in the show. RD pretty much just likes the Wonderbolts in general, mostly because she's going to be like them someday. Besides, the way how she reacts to Soarin is the same way how she reacts to the rest of the Wonderbolts. It's probably not going to happen.
I'd think thats actually be a reason to add them. The target demographic is still pre teen girls, and they love that kind of stuff. Relationships aren't exactly out of place in kids shows.
As it stands, I don't see anything canonically pointing towards them being a likely pair. The limited interactions between them in Canterlot Wedding proves very little; their interaction in Rainbow Falls was platonic at best; and their interaction in Rarity Investigates was fairly strained, what with Soarin taking the rather draconian "prove your innocence!" mentality as opposed to the more sensible and just"innocent until proven guilty" stance. Simply judging from what I've seen between them so far in the show, RD's interest in him doesn't seem to extend beyond the fact that he's a member of the elite flyers she idolizes, and likewise his interest in her doesn't seem to extend beyond the excellent flying skills she's demonstrated throughout the show's lifespan. That said, I'm very much against this ship as it seems to be predicated on the shallowest of bases - "RD likes the Wonderbolts, so of course she's gonna fall for the one prominent male Wonderbolt!" Such a weak basis for a ship, IMO, belittles her character to the point where she might as well be the Wonderbolts' equivalent to a puck bunny (Wonderbunny?) instead of the plucky, adventure-hungry dreamer she's always been. Of course, if the writers one day bother to develop Soarin's character into something RD has a good reason to fall in love with, then I could conceivably be swayed to support SoarinDash. Until that time...it gets all my
Dashie's early interactions with him struck me more as fangirling than actual attraction or romantic interest. And no, this show isn't above showing one of the mane 6 having a crush on somepony (Rarity had it BAD for Trenderhoof) but there really hasn't been a whole lot that I'd interpret as flirting between these two. Wouldn't be opposed to this particular pairing if it became canon though. Soarin's pretty cool.
