Hm. I suppose this is true... somewhat...

Rex was chosen as a chat moderator because he's usually always there, he's been around long enough, and he knows what is and isn't allowed. Pretty much the same reason why we picked Dodo as a forum moderator. Jhera was already considered as a potential RP moderator a while back, so now we chose him to moderate the chat including the RP rooms.

So yeah, we have tons of reasons. Also, i'm not entirely sure how this blog is relevant with what you're saying. Cronyism would only be relevant here if the two people you quoted were on staff.

Funny that you bring this up only now, Dragonbait. Favoritism is something that had led to bad decision making on the part of the staff in the past.

I said I am okay with the choices and I hope they do well. But your scathing defense against even the smallest amount of bias doesn't hold up. Are we to believe that the two I quoted are friends with most of the staff, but the staff aren't friends in the same group with them? The staff only like those two but not each other? I find that hard to believe. I just worry that it will become more about staff hanging out with their group of friends and less about maintaining and improving the site. Which leads me to...

I know. And I did speak up again after it was already happening in the past. With the new group, I hope they learn from the past instead of being doomed to repeat it. Which is why I bring it up now instead of after it starts. I think it will be a good group. I hope it will be an effective group. Always be improving though, if you get complacent or too comfortable, things will slide as you relax.

Seconded. I've always wanted to see EP evolve into something that feels like a village. The kind of village where people find a sense of belonging and acceptance. Numerous steps have been taking in that direction where some worked and others did not due to a lack of participation. Suppose there's still a couple of things to do within this frontier.

Dragon's concerns are not without merit: I think staff should stop messing around in the Derp Room (Essentially the Staff's, both Ex-Staff and present staff's, off-topic and screwing around room) and start coming up with valid and creative ideas for the improvement/betterment of the site as a whole.

It really isn't that hard, or at least, it shouldn't be.

Hang on, let me just pull an idea out of my idea bag, just like that. It's also worth noting that there have been numerous instances where the staff has implemented an unnecessary idea just because it was an idea in a relatively dry spell. It goes both ways. Coming up with ideas shouldn't be done simply for the sake of coming up with ideas, and with that in mind, I can't really fault people who don't post many ideas.

You're right, Yam-Yams. I certainly didn't think about that aspect.

Aren't you all looking WAY too much into this? I mean, where is this coming from and where is it going? We just had to hire several new mods because several old mods left. That's about it. I don't see how this spawned such a conversation...

This forum has a rather small community so I somewhat expect this. I hope administration will take the proper actions if staff exhibit specific bias toward anyone let alone friends.

I like the current staff choices, I think they will do well.

Guys, guys, calm down. He's just making an observation and is simply wishing for the staff to be careful with it; please don't assume too much. His concern is valid, so please just heed his warning and make sure it just doesn't happen.

I read this exactly how Saikyo is phrasing it. Dragonbait isn't saying, "Hey, here's what you're doing wrong." He's merely giving advice for us to be leery about letting things that didn't work in the past occur again. I appreciate your concern Dragonbait, and your willingness to bring it up. We shall keep it in mind.
