This is a borderline personal attack. You have the right to disagree with me, but you don't have the right to insult my kin. People being unable to respect people like me was the reason I left this forum a while ago. Perhaps I should not have come back. I was not actually offended earlier, you simply asked about why people couldl like Rainbow Dash in your post, I answered, no more to it I have no problem with you personally whatsoever, your personal attacks are unprovoked. Is a little respect too much to ask from a community which is supposed to be about tolerance? Yes, I am different from you, the fact that I am not "normal" does not mean I am any worse of a person than you. Despite, I have met many nice people who many so called "normal" people would label as insane. So why would anyone use tulpamancy? Isn't it obvious? The same reasons people seek religion. Please, I have no hard feelings towards you. Please reconsider your harsh attitude towards me and we can leave this behind us. I am not that mentally unstable, not more than the fact that I am a religious man would make me. I have a variant of Rainbow and Pinkie by my side, yes, truly mind constructs but still. I also believe a 2000 year old carpenter rose from the dead. Why is the second statement more sane? If anyone is intrested in the matter they can just tell me and I can tell them whatever they want to know. I just have to say that many among us consider ourselves a religion and therefore discrimination towards us as a group should be considered discrimination towards a religious minority. Now, this thread should be about Pinkie, like it should be. Isn't she adorable?
I was sitting there thinking "wow the description for this episode makes it seem like it's gonna be okay... I was wrong... It was amazing! I did think some of the songs didn't sound right... They sounded fine but it seems like the lyrics and music had awkward stopping points... Anyway... I liked pinkies spectacular banner making skills... And when cheese sandwich first started singing... ULTIMATE FANGASM!!! Until he sung I hadn't realised that it was him. My mind freaked out and I imediately texted all my brony friends... I am really glad they made use of his musical skills. That seems like something that could have very easily gotten forgotten and ruined the episode. I also learned that pinkie pie is so adorable when shes jealous and not going insane...
I agree that it was hard to tell that it was Weird Al until he actually started singing. I knew it was him and I was just like "wow, that's his speaking voice?" Though I guess he was putting on a voice for the character, because mysteriousness. o:
Well, this video sums up my thoughts about the episode pretty well. Seems I have a similar opinion as Digibrony in this case. Now a few days later I think this may be one of my favorite episodes of the show so far. In fact I think the entire season 4 has been awesome.
In addition to being one of my favorite se04 eps so far, it's also now my favorite Pinkie ep of all time. Weird Al certainly did not disappoint. A lot of my friends say they felt the need to rewatch the episode immediately after their first viewing, and I think I know why - the sheer awesomeness (let alone surreality) of Weird Al being in an MLP episode is a little too much for many folks to take in, at least the first time around. It is with this episode that I can confidently say, to any who continue to insist that se04 has been "bad" so far: Spoiler
Suppose I'm in the minority, as this episode didn't quite impact me the way it has for others. While I did enjoy it, in all honesty I've enjoyed every MLP episode. There have been things I've been unhappy with, but never one I'd say was outright bad. This one had a number of good parts, anything revolving around Pinkie immediately catches my attention. While I'd never claim favorites, I adore Pinkie's personality. The smallest things she dose makes me smile and laugh regardless of the situation or my mood; and seeing her sad absolutely breaks my heart. The songs were highlights for sure, Pinkie's Lament in particular had a lot emotion and power behind it. I found myself wishing they went with one or two longer songs, then a bunch of short ones however, seems like each song was ending just as I was getting into it. Also there were a couple of things that were a little too silly even for a Pinkie episode, the real versions of Boneless and Gummy for one just didn't really "fit". Anyway I guess the major disconnection for me is Weird Al. While I'm no stranger to him, (been listening to him since the early 90s and like a good number of his songs), I wouldn't really classify myself as a fan either. Apparently the Brony community has embraced him though, enough so that they had to have him guest star; it's all something I was completely unaware of. Even though I thought he did a good job voicing the character, I feel like if I had prior knowledge of why he had become so big in the community, it maybe would have impacted me more. Even his name, Cheese Sandwich, is a little bizarre for a pony name, I feel like I'm missing a reference. In the end, for me, it was a good Pinkie episode that happened to co-star Weird Al, but not really my favorite of the season so far, and certainly not the series as a whole.
I dunno, I'm not huge on Weird Al either, and from what I've heard, it's not much to do with the fandom wanting Weird Al as it was Weird Al offering to be in an episode and eventually being brought in. I though the Cheese Sandwich thing was weird, too, but I thought it sort of fit with Weird Al's overall wackiness. On the other hand, I imagine people that haven't even heard of Weird Al can easily be confused by his characterization.
I'm a little late to say this, but after seeing this episode that I can say that not only is it my favorite episode of Season 4, but my favorite episode period! The story was great, the characters were well developed, all the songs were great (my favorites being Pinkie's Lament and the Goof Off), and Weird Al was the cherry on top. Needless to say, It was a great episode.
OMG, what an amazing episode! It was everything a Pinkie Pie episode should be. Funny jokes, great lines, good songs, fourth walls, surprises, etc. It was also very meta, when you realize that Pinkie Pie is attempting to outfunny WEIRD AL HIMSELF! The music and polka and accordion making us adults realize who this crazy pony really is. Also, being a humor writer and a fan of the history of great comedians, this episode made me think of the social role that comedians and clowns have in a community or society. When you go beyond the crazyness of the Marx Brothers and realize why they were so important, not just funny, it makes you realize how important Pinkie Pie really is to Ponyville. I also loved the continuity porn of Pinkie going through her previous parties. That's a nice reward for longtime fans of the show. But BY FAR, the best part was Pinkie singing the piñata song, even with her gringa accent. I was washing the dishes while watching the episode and when she started to sing it that part it made me do a double-take. With Christmas and posadas just back in December, it brought back so many memories of every Christmas in my life. So awesome and touching at the same time. Now, normally I would have been "tell me again why is Rainbow Dash the element of Loyalty again?" Except this time she actually apologized (unlike last time) to the person that she hurt and learned her lesson at the end. So not even that soiled the episode. So, Dale, dale, dale, no pierdas el tino, porque si lo pierdes pierdes el camino, ya le diste una, ya le diste dos, ya le diste tres y tu tiempo se acabó.
I think if you're not familiar with Weird Al (and why would small girls?) then he just comes across as a male Pinkie Pie.
You do understand that the show's target audience is no longer little girls, right? The writers know that the adult fans are out there, and often write episodes that would appeal to them even more than they would appeal to children. Just look at "Slice of Life."
Also, apparently almost every version decided to stick with the original song, albeit with stronger or weaker accents. LOVE IT!
It is for little girls, they just make it so that everybody else enjoys it too. It was like that from the beginning.
No, it actually wasn't. Lauren Faust specifically said that she made the show for little girls-- and their parents. She wanted to make something that adults could enjoy as much as children did. Obviously, she succeeded.
Now you're splitting hairs for the sake of conflict. Sorry, not interested in fighting you over semantics when you know very well what I meant.
No, I really didn't know what you meant, because it wasn't what you said. You said that the show was made for little girls from the beginning. The creator of the show specifically stated that she made the show for families, including adult males. And no, I'm not trying to start a conflict. I'm just disagreeing with you. If I ever have an actual problem with you, I'll just come right out and let you know. Passive-aggressiveness is for cowards.
